I have a song that has lyrics that suggest the plot of a movie. During the time that I was writing the song and recording the song, some ideas would start popping up in my head, as if my mind were trying to figure out 'and what plot would "fit" the story that these lyrics seem to be telling?' So, I wrote a 'Plot Synopsis' that I think is a possible outline for a story based on the lyrics of this song. In my synopsis, I try to come up with the main 'plot points' around which to make a complete story based on these lyrics. I am primarily a songwriter –I am not a professional writer or screenwriter. So, I wonder if there is a producer/director/production company that would be interested in making a movie based on this song; maybe this producer/director/company has experience creating screenplays, and (if they like my ideas), would be able to take my 'Plot Synopsis', "fill-in the blanks", and create a complete screenplay for a movie based on the song. [Of Course, if somebody is interested in making this movie, they can consider my 'plot' ideas just suggestions; if he/she/they think they can come up with a better idea for an original story based on this song, they can ignore my suggestions, and that will be fine with me!] (About the song - Hint: Romance in a naval setting, around the time period of the "Pirates of the Caribbean" movies. Power-rock ballad kinda like in the same vein as "Everything I Do, I Do It For You".) My offer for compensation are the Publishing Rights for this song, and I definitely think this is not an unreasonable compensation offer, because the owner(s) of the Publishing Rights receive fully 50-percent of all income generated by a song (50% of the royalties; the songwriter(s) get the other 50%). Bear in mind that if a song becomes a Big Hit (like "Everything I Do"), the Publishing Rights royalties can easily be in the seven-figure range. (And I really, really think this song has a chance of reaching that level of success!) Add to that the fact that a song generates royalties for the life of the copyright, which is at the moment, I believe, life-of-the-author plus 75 years. I hope the result will be a commercial movie (even a B-movie) or TV movie (maybe Hallmark-Channel material, or a good historical "period-piece"? Who knows...) And I think the song, as part of the soundtrack, has the potential to be a hit, which would benefit everyone involved (A successful/popular movie would boost the song, and vice-versa).
