Hello! I am casting for an independent short film entitled "Cutting Room" shooting this upcoming Memorial Day weekend (May 23-25). Cutting Room is a dark comedy about an outcast aspiring filmmaker who lives at home with his aunt and works at a rundown hospital filming medical procedures. Everything starts to spiral when he witnesses a surgery gone awry and his aunt's dementia begins to worsen. We are still casting for two roles: Aunt Doris (50s-70s) - Femme presenting. An eccentric bird lady with early onset dementia. She houses her nephew Frankie rent free so long as he helps her with her side projects. She's quirky and upbeat, but is losing control of her mind. A woo woo bohemian who still maintains a touch of glamor. At the end of the film, her house burns down and she strips off her clothes, dancing on the front lawn. Dance experience a plus, but not necessary. Mrs. Bigley (40s-60s) - Femme presenting. The intimidating and powerful hospital administrator. She interrogates our protagonist in a pivotal scene. Unflappable and cunning, yet we can see the stress of being overworked on her. She rocks a power suit and has a bit of craziness behind her eyes. Producer is committed to diverse, inclusive casting. Submissions for non-descript roles will be accepted for all performers, regardless of age, sex, ethnicity, disability, race, color, national origin, sexual orientation or gender identity. In your submission please send a headshot along with a resume or any work examples. We will reach out to applicants for additional materials as well.
