Casting "Samson and Delilah," a local community production based on selections from the opera by Camille Saint-Saëns. Synopsis: When Samson returns from exile to rescue his people from the hands of the Philistines, he is confronted by his former lover, a Philistine woman named Delilah, who threatens to lead him away from his divine calling. ROLES AVAILABLE: SUPPORTING/BACKGROUND: Philistine Soldiers: Cruel and merciless soldiers sent by Kothar, the high priest of Dagon, to ransack a Hebrew settlement and seize captives for the temple. (Prior experience is a plus, but not required. Must be able to embody specific character types and work collaboratively with the director. This is a non-speaking, non-singing role that involves only physical actions and stage movement. Reading music is helpful, but not required, as long as you can follow and memorize music cues.) Abimelech: A fearless Philistine general with an intimidating presence. Wounded by Samson in battle, he is later rebuked by Kothar, the high priest of Dagon, for allowing the captives to escape. (Prior experience is a plus, but not required. Must be able to embody specific character types and work collaboratively with the director. REQUIRED MEDIA: Headshot/Photo, Resume. Please also provide a self-tape (or any video of yourself performing), if available, and ensure you are clearly in the frame. While this is not required, it will help us better assess your suitability for the role. DATES & LOCATIONS: Rehearsals will take place in Hacienda Heights and will begin on October 11th; the show runs November 1st, 2025, at the San Gabriel Mission Playhouse. The rehearsal dates are as follows: Saturday, October 11 Friday, October 17 Saturday, October 18 Tuesday, October 21 Friday, October 24 Saturday, October 25 Tuesday, October 28 (Final Show Run with Chorus & Orchestra) Thursday, October 30 (Final Show Run with Chorus & Orchestra) Note: Specific rehearsal times and location details will be provided following casting. This is a non-union, nonpaid community production open to performers of all backgrounds. We hope to create opportunities for students and emerging actors to gain valuable stage experience, build their resumes, and perform in front of a live audience at the San Gabriel Mission Playhouse.
