Compensation: Based on experience Photographer hiring a local freelance Set Production Assistant for a dynamic editorial shoot in Venice Beach, California (sand, boardwalk, water's edge – no swimming). This is a minimal‑footprint production. You are not a full stylist or key makeup artist. You are a fashion‑aware, hands‑on PA who keeps two models camera‑ready, handles simple wardrobe changes, and helps the shoot run smoothly. ROLE SUMMARY You will work directly with two female models. The wardrobe is already sourced and on‑set: swimsuits, athletic tops, denim shorts, boy shorts, sneakers, sunglasses. Makeup will be nearly finished when the models arrive – you do light touch‑ups, apply shimmer spray for editorial specular highlights, and manage last‑looks. No heavy lifting (max 15 lbs). No complex lighting or camera duties unless you have experience and want to learn. RESPONSIBILITIES On‑Set (Primary) Help models change quickly between looks (swimsuits, shorts, tops, accessories). Perform the Last Looks 3‑point check before every shot: Face (lipstick, shine, clarity) → Hair (flyaways, strands) → Wardrobe (straight seams, no twists). Apply shimmer spray to shoulders, collarbones, and cheekbones for controlled specular highlights (editorial "wet" glow). Light makeup touch‑ups (powder shine, lip balm, brow check). Monitor hair in wind – smooth flyaways, keep volume where needed. Keep track of accessories (sunglasses, jewelry) between setups. Secondary Act as a second set of eyes: watch for background distractions (poles, objects intersecting models). Assist with small gear moves between locations. WHAT YOU ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR Sourcing wardrobe – garments are on‑set, pre‑selected. Full hair styling or complex updos – natural movement is the goal. Heavy makeup application – models arrive nearly camera‑ready. Lighting or camera operation (unless you want to assist and learn). IDEAL CANDIDATE Fashion‑forward with a natural eye for style and detail. Comfortable working fast outdoors (sun, wind, sand). Previous experience as a set PA, styling assistant, or similar on editorial/fashion shoots. Able to interact with models in a calm, professional, supportive way. Not overqualified – you are not a film‑industry stylist or key HMU. This is a lean, nimble production. DETAILS Date: April 22nd (full day, Venice Beach) Models: Two female characters with distinct aesthetics (clean/athletic vs. bronzed/glam). Specific concept shared after hire. Wardrobe: Simple, pre‑sourced (swim, shorts, tees, sneakers). Hair/Makeup: Nearly done on arrival; you do light touch‑ups + shimmer spray.
