LA-based director seeking a narrative editor for a short film currently in post-production. Portions of the film are already edited, but the film has not yet been assembled into a complete cut. Looking for an editor with strong narrative instincts to work with the existing sequences and remaining footage to help shape the film into a cohesive first cut, with particular attention to the middle section where structure and pacing are still being worked out. The ideal editor has a strong sense of performance, pacing, rhythm, structure, and character, and can bring a fresh perspective to the material while building on what is already working. Project Details • Format: Shot on Blackmagic; editing in Premiere Pro. • Target Runtime: 10–12 minutes • Scope: Assemble and shape existing and unedited material into a cohesive first cut, with particular attention to the middle section • Compensation: $250 flat; some flexibility depending on experience • Location: Remote editing is fine; LA County-based preferred for easy hard-drive transfer. The selected editor will receive the script, existing edited sequences, footage/proxies, and Premiere project. There will be a brief conversation beforehand about the intention of the film, what is already working, and areas where a fresh editorial perspective would be helpful. From there, the editor will have room to approach the material with fresh eyes. This is not a finishing/color/sound/delivery job. The focus at this stage is editorial storytelling and getting the film into a strong complete cut. If interested, please send a brief introduction and scripted/narrative work samples (shorts or features preferred). Current film students and recent graduates with strong narrative samples are welcome to apply. Thank you!
