One-time freelance project | Remote welcome We're a newly founded Vancouver-based basketball culture project built around people, stories and the game. We're looking for an editor to finish "For the Love of the Game," a short film about why people keep coming back to basketball: playing, friendship and the feeling that stays after a run. The current rough cut is approximately 75 seconds. We want it to feel personal and moving, with a natural rhythm and room to breathe. Emerging editors are welcome. A feel for basketball is a plus; a strong sense of storytelling, pacing and sound is essential. WHAT WE'LL PROVIDE • An approved narration script and creative direction. • A reference rough cut developed using AI-assisted tools and our editorial input. • A detailed footage map with source IDs, descriptions, suggested moments and links. • Selected footage sources, additional clip options, and sound-effect and licensing references. • A human voiceover recorded by us once we agree on the pacing. • Clear feedback from one creative lead. WHAT WE NEED • Shape the edit, pacing and transitions. • Integrate narration, music and outdoor basketball sound, with dribbles and swishes synced to the action. • Refine titles, subtitles and colour consistency. • Deliver landscape (16:9) and vertical (9:16) versions, with captioned and clean exports, plus the editable project and an organized asset/source list. • Two rounds of consolidated feedback, with the schedule agreed before starting. The rough cut is a creative starting point. You're welcome to rearrange it, use other moments from the supplied footage or suggest additional footage that can be used under an appropriate license. We want your creative judgment. No filming is required for this assignment. Any paid music, stock or other expenses must be agreed in advance. We're currently pre-revenue and looking to collaborate with upcoming upcoming editors looking to build their portfolios. As such, the payment offered is a stipend as a result of our gratitude and not a determination of what your skill is worth. One-time project payment: CAD $75 To apply, reply with two or three relevant editing samples, a short note about your role in them, your availability and the editing software you use. Short films, documentary, sports and emotionally driven social work are especially relevant.
